At 9:31 pm Moscow time, an anti-war activist put up a sign on Russia’s main state television news program.
The board reads, “No war. Stop the war. Do not believe the propaganda that they are lying here.”
“Russians against war,” says the last line of the sign in English.

What we know about the opponent: According to OVD-Info, an anti-human rights watchdog group, the woman holding the identity is an employee of the channel.
On its Telegram channel, OVD-Info reported that the employee was Maria Ovsyanikova. Ovsyannikova’s friends told OVD-Info that he was currently in the Ostankino police station in Moscow.
CNN could not independently verify that Ovsyanikova was the woman who disrupted the news broadcast, but the photos on social media profiles with her name matched the woman seen on the screen.
The Russian state news agency TASS confirmed OVD-Info’s report quoting a source and said he could face trial.
OVD-Info received a video of what Ovsyannikova allegedly did before interfering with the news broadcast.
“What is happening in Ukraine now is a crime. Russia is an occupier. Ukrainian, and his mother Russian.
“Unfortunately, for the past few years, I’m been working on Channel One and campaigning for the Kremlin, and now I’m very ashamed to think about it,” he says. “Shame on you for allowing the Russian people to zombie, and shame on me for allowing me to tell lies from the TV screens.”
“In 2014, I was ashamed that we were quiet when it all started,” he says. “We did not go to rallies when the Kremlin poisoned Navalny. We saw this inhumane regime in silence, and now the world has turned us on forever, and can not wash away ten more generations of our descendants. The shame of this fratricidal war.”
“We the Russian people, thinking and intelligent, it is only in our power to stop this madness,” he says. “Go to the rallies, don’t be afraid! They can’t displace us all!”
Videos of the interruption were posted on social media shortly after it aired. Russia received CNN video from a live feed from Channel One VK’s profile.
Within minutes, that live feed was removed.
Correction: The previous version of this post was reported incorrectly Type OVD-information of the system. OVD-Info is an independent anti-human rights watchdog.
