The Ukrainian army destroyed several Russian military helicopters at Kherson International Airport on Tuesday, according to new satellite images from Planet Labs.
As several helicopters catch fire, a large black smoke rises from the airport in the satellite image.

It was the deadliest strike by the Ukrainian military against Russian helicopters during the war, with at least three Russian helicopters set on fire or destroyed at the airport.
Army vehicles found near the airport were also attacked.

Another picture, taken by a drone hovering over the nearby village of Komishani, also shows a large haze of smoke from the airport.
CNN geolocated and verified the authenticity of the film.
The military strike at the airport was triggered by NASA’s Fire Information for Resource Management System (FIRMS), which monitors major fires around the world.
According to emotional data collected by FIRMS, the military attack took place at 1:42 pm local time.

On Monday, satellite images of Maxar Technologies showed several Russian military helicopters in Dormak at Kherson’s International Airport. Dozens of military vehicles are also found in the surrounding area.
